Beautiful Bathroom

Beautiful Bathroom

just a quick bathroom treat for today. Amazing light filled bathroom retreat – love the glass ceiling to create that wonderful feel to the space – plus the textures…. so serene .

Pendant Panache

Pendant lighting is definitely on trend in all styles of interior design right now. From classic to country , modern to retro. The images I have selected are all delicious and mainly modern or retro. Hope you like them!simondevitt118

Beautiful round pendant, generous in size and yet light and airy.

Love this oriental patterned light. Original and definitely fabulous,

This dark mesh design is cool and contemporary – I love the contrast with the lighter tones in the room.

Strong and dramatic, this black metal pair of  lights definitely define the dining zone !

Just love this streamlined , almost UFO style light – perfectly placed by the abstract, geometric artwork.

I know this is not a pendant light , but just had to include it as it is so special! yes please , love this one.

Clean, crisp and wow! This one is stunning. plus the contrast of the black , angular style

over the kitchen bench.

Retro magic – I adore this room  – the chair, picture window and that singular pendant light against the neutral toned wall.

White dome light is a strong feature in this interesting and very unusual whitewashed room.

The organic shape of this pendant light is classic and timeless – this would work in more than one style of home.

Hope you enjoyed these beautiful examples of pendants …..

The Fibro Beach Shack

After catching up with an old friend, who escapes to the NSW south coast whenever her family can, I started thinking about the type of holiday shack I would like to have if ever to be so lucky. Once again my love of the modernist design, means many of the gorgeous old 50s and 60s style shacks would be a dream to add some love to – not transform, just keep as per the original and bring it back to life.  Here are some images I love.

fibro beach 2

Love the entrance to this design, and the angled roof line…..

blue fibro

This one has obviously been given some love and attention and thankfully they have kept true to the original design.

This one is the perfect project, unassuming and unique design…

green fibro shack

Already a finished project, this one ticks all the boxes, especially with open and closed veranda spaces.

Large windows and wide eaves and a blank canvas to create the dream beachside escape.

Enough dreaming, back to reality. We are planning to sell later this year and I am already looking forward to a new project – I just hope there’s an old modernist fibro our there waiting for me!

Style, organic shapes and Texture.

This home was designed by Clare Cousins  in Melbourne for her family. It is a very original design that offers some stunning organic shapes , combined with a mix of materials that offer some great contrasts in texture and shape.

Just love the shape of this face of the home and the use of the bricks especially being used in the vertical design rather than horizontal.

The amazing curved screening against the stark white bricks.

The living space, almost has a modernist feel to the design and built in shelving.

The kitchen uses rich dark brick work, to define the work space in the centre  of the open plan living area, contrasting beautifully with the lighter tones.

Love the fireplace – very simple and functional – bringing the exterior brick work indoors.

Beautiful suntrap courtyard flowing alongside the home.

Fabulous and funky , modernist furniture and accent pieces – love the colours and combination of shapes.

The bathroom is simple and large – open walk in shower and simple basin give the room lots of space.

The main bedroom is tucked behind the timber slatted screen, giving soft filtered light. Once again, love all the furniture and accent pieces – the pieces all relate to the other furniture pieces in the home. Organic and modern.

Really love the way this home is furnished and  – original and fabulous.

Montauk Lake House

This beautiful home is a subtle blend of crisp whites, soft driftwood tones, large expanses of glass all in a contemporary style. The home is large and sprawling on an amazing piece of land adjacent to the Lake. Designed by Architect Robert Young. All images via  Enjoy!

Another external view, showing the more traditional architecture. I love the grey weathered timbers on the deck.

Stunning living space – timber and white…just love that look.

Looking back into the kitchen, with soft greyed timbers used as a divider for the kitchen area.

Walkway showing the soft hued timber wall behind the kitchen – driftwood tones give the space a real warmth and character.

The wonderful openness of this home is shown here… love that pendant light too…

The Lounge room ….. take me there!!

Montauk Lake House

One of the bedrooms showing the soaring ceilings – masses of light and space.

Montauk Lake HouseTo complete the story, of course a classic pool, placed adjacent to the home on the large expanse of lawn.

I love the simplicity and style of this home – elegant and uncluttered. Timeless design.

Open Plan Impact

I found these images of this fabulous warehouse space that has been converted to a home  by Israel Designers – Andro Studio. There are a number of components within this home that work together so well.  Some elements are simple  and contemporary , while others are quirky and also industrial. It’s the sort of space that doesn’t really fit into one type of “style” – which is why I think I like it. Enjoy.

The height of this space really gives the room such an open feeling, The exposed ducting and pipework on the ceiling combined with those amazing windows firmly stamp industrial conversion on this space. However the statement pendant lighting, truly fabulous sofas and artwork take the space to another level.

The view of the room from the other direction –  little touches make the difference. I love the repetitive cacti on top of the timber dividing wall.

Warm and inviting is this section of the space – a study/ library/ retreat? The lowered timber ceiling and glass sliding partition  walls make sure this space feels cosy and comfortable.

The open dining space is dominated by the huge “spider-like” industrial pendant. Light pouring in from those gorgeous windows ensure this area is light filled and fresh. Love the mix of colours of the dining chairs, once again just different enough to add a very individual look.

The Galley style kitchen , uncluttered and sleek. The smooth cupboards hide all the mundane and everyday kitchen necessities, leaving the eye to take in details from the floor rugs and bold coloured accents. There are those cacti again!

One thing I also love about this warehouse is the casual ( but careful) placement of the artworks. Not always hung on walls, but leant strategically to add interest to a particular corner of the room. The colour of the timber boards is also something that appeals to me – the wood  grain is strong and varied.

Just Love this donkey canvas!

The view into the library/study retreat  showing the glass roller doors up close – plus the open view straight through the home . I also like how they have cleverly laid the timber floor boards in the opposite direction for the reading area, to further define the different spaces.

This space is not a text-book style, it is individual and brave…. the colour palette is soft and calming and the decorative elements used are fun and original. The whole mix works together to create a welcoming and very contemporary home.

Till my next post!

Swedish Style

I found this crisp, fresh and absolutely fabulous apartment whilst browsing the web I want to share with you . I just love the clean lines, modernist touches and pops of colour. The home is in Sweden and I think it definitely echoes this through the choice of furniture and accessories. Modern-living-space swedish

Gorgeous yellow pendant light , amazing accent chair and yes, I know we have all seen that wall paper before, but it is just right in this space.

The view of the living room from the other angle – featuring this beautiful modernist timber buffet. Also love the quirky ladder and the casual placement of artwork …

kitchen-and-dining-665x498 swedish

Fresh, open kitchen, the gloss white floors through out definitely do their job af giving an open and large feel to the apartment. Once again a pop of colour, this time Pink , is just enough. Simple and fabulous!

hall-used-as-study sweish

The hall way doubles as a study nook as well. Dramatic black and white runner tied in with the black gloss bench seat – with the black and white flowing through to the bedroom ahead – a clever use of space.

Main bedroom- almost a touch masculine with the black and white check. The strong metal bedsides lamps and original striped bedhead all work beautifully together. The gloss white floor continues throughout.

Compact, clever storage for the children’s bedroom, easy care and clutter free.

The smokey grey bathroom tiles and modern bathroom storage give the bathroom and warm, earthy feel, but still retains that modern feeling.

This home is a stunning, yet simple one. Clean, Crisp and fresh.
